Anthurium Sp Nov DF Anthurium sp. nov. ‘DF’ is a rare collector Anthurium known for its mysterious background, dark tropical presence, and highly desirable velvet-leaf appearance. Because “sp. nov.” indicates a not-yet-formally-described species, this plant is best presented under its accepted collector/trade name rather than a confirmed botanical species name. Its elegant form makes it a standout choice for serious aroid collectors looking for uncommon Anthurium genetics. Plant Characteristics This Anthurium features deep green to dark emerald foliage with a refined, velvety surface and prominent veining that becomes more expressive as the plant matures. Leaves are typically elongated-heart shaped to cordate, with a graceful tropical growth habit as new foliage sizes up. Under stable growing conditions, mature plants can develop larger, dramatic leaves with strong collector appeal. Care Guide Grow Anthurium sp. nov. ‘DF’ in bright, indirect light, avoiding harsh direct sun that may scorch the leaves. Water when the top layer of the substrate begins to dry, keeping the root zone evenly moist but never soggy. Maintain moderate to high humidity, ideally 60–80%, with warm temperatures around 65–85°F / 18–29°C. Use a chunky, breathable aroid mix such as orchid bark, perlite, coco chips, charcoal, and a small amount of moisture-retentive material to support healthy roots. Why Collectors Love It Collectors value Anthurium sp. nov. ‘DF’ for its rarity, mysterious provenance, and refined dark foliage. It is an excellent choice for anyone building a premium Anthurium collection with unusual, conversation-starting plants.
