Anthurium forgetii Variegated × Papillilaminum Anthurium forgetii variegated × Anthurium papillilaminum is a rare collector hybrid that combines the elegant closed-sinus leaf shape of forgetii with the dramatic velvet texture and bold presence of papillilaminum. This plant is especially appealing for Anthurium collectors who love unique foliage, refined venation, and the added excitement of variegated growth. Plant Characteristics This hybrid typically develops rounded to heart-influenced leaves with a smooth, velvety surface and prominent veining. The Anthurium forgetii parent contributes its signature seamless leaf form without a deep sinus, while Anthurium papillilaminum adds darker tones, elongated structure, and a luxurious velvet appearance. Variegation may appear as soft marbling, sectoral markings, or subtle mint-to-cream patterning, making each plant visually unique. As it matures, this Anthurium can become a striking statement plant for indoor tropical collections. Care Guide Provide bright, indirect light to support healthy growth and stable variegation. Avoid harsh direct sun, which may burn delicate leaves. Water when the top layer of the potting mix begins to dry, keeping the roots lightly moist but never soggy. This plant prefers high humidity around 60–80%, warm temperatures between 65–85°F, and a chunky, well-draining aroid mix with bark, perlite, coco chips, and sphagnum moss. Why Collectors Love It Collectors love this hybrid for its rare combination of velvet foliage, forgetii-style leaf shape, and unpredictable variegation. It is an excellent choice for Anthurium enthusiasts looking for a distinctive, high-end tropical plant with strong collector appeal.
